Anbernic 28xx another small handheld device

Can I enjoy gaming on this small handheld?

Let’s look back at when I got my miyoo A30, at that time I was so disappointed with that device that I have been thinking. Should I give another small handheld device a try or not? This thought actually got me where I am today with another small handheld device. The Anbernic 28xx. Okay I also have to admit that this device looks kind of cute in this color combination, and that is enough to buy one, right?

It seems like I am a little bit unlucky when it comes to these small devices. This time I got my first screen bleed handheld. Yeah, it looks ugly I can tell you. I read on internet that you can loosen the screws a little and that there is a possibility that would help. Honestly, I tried this but it didn’t help sadly.

Compared to the Miyoo A30 that I bought some months ago this device actually feels really sturdy. This device also came with a blue Kioxia Micro-Sd card, and this time I decided I would not swap Micro-SD cards. First thing I did was adding some of the games I missed on this card. Let’s say that there were no problems afterwards and the card still plays the games fine. I think this is a good thing. The only thing that was really bothering me was the screen bleed.

I hoped that if I installed MuOs maybe it would be a bit better and since I was curious to see if the Micro-SD card actually could handle it. I decided to give that a try and flashed the card. Flashing the Micro-SD card is necessary when you want to install a different firmware and a program called rufus is ideal for it. Worst thing that could happen was that the card would break and I had to get myself a different one.

I would have not tried this with a no brand Micro-SD card but since this was a Kioxia card I decided to just do it. Everything went fine and I could finally add bios and games on the device. No problems here I was really happy with that. Started the device up and played games for a while.

Sadly, I could not live with the terrible screen bleed and decided to contact AliExpress since I bought the device from there. The customer service was amazing and I could return the device. I do feel sad about this since I do like the device itself, but I do have to admit that this would probably be my last small handheld device. Even if I don’t mind gaming on the device the only games, I feel comfortable playing on this one is Gameboy related games. SNES and Mega Drive for example I prefer to play on a bigger screen.

Even if I was unlucky with the screen bleed, I do give this device points because it’s really a stable device and it can run its games very well. No complaints on that point, I would just not use the overlays they have set up because that makes the screen even smaller. For example, Gameboy games the overlay if you use the overlay from that emulator, you really have a small screen. I personally don’t think it is enjoyable to game with that emulator on since the screen itself is already small.

I think this one is actually beginners friendly since it has a better Micro-SD card in it, and you can plug and play with this device, and I think this device is also a good travel company since it doesn’t take up a lot of space. I would also say keep in mind that if you have large hands, it could be possible that playing this device can be uncomfortable and I would only buy this if you don’t mind playing games on a small screen. Lastly if you are in need of a small and cute device, I would say don’t hesitate to get one of these for your collection.

Till the next blog everyone
