Welcome to the blog of Alexia Kuros
The Anbernic RG35xx
My very first emulation device wasn’t the Odin 2 Pro it was actually the RG35xx. This device is actually the start of everything. Sadly, I can not remember how I learned that these devices excited me, but up until today I am still very happy that I did buy it.
When I start looking for my first device, I didn’t know about all the difference between the many devices that were already on the market. Honestly none of it made any sense. I mean I just wanted a device so I could play Clocktower, Pokémon, Mario and other games on. I found 2 devices that were not horrible expensive on Amazon. In the end I still paid way too much, but that was a learning process. Neither did I know about bad quality Micro-SD cards. I was new to all those things. In the end I had to choose between the Anbernic RG35xx or Miyoo Mini+, and ended up buying the Anbernic Rg35xx.
My device arrived and I turned it on. There were I don’t know how many games on this handheld. Like I said in a older blog, emulation really came a long way. I played quite some games on this but missed the Mario games. I decided to search for roms and added them on my device along with some other games that were missing. I was really happy they also had some Pokémon rom hacks too.
I was curious what other things I could do with this device and finally started to do some research. The first thing I learned was that I could better swap the no brand Micro-SD cards. That means back to amazon and order 2 Samsung Micro-SD cards. I went a little overboard actually with a 128GB and a 256GB. Seriously what was I thinking? I found out quickly that I do not need all that space and ended up using the 256GB card for my RG40xxH. The 128GB that is still in my RG35xx is not even halfway filled with roms.
My very first Firmware was Garlic OS. It was actually pretty easy to set up, and I also found a tiny best rom set with a lot of things already done for me. Like for example images with the game so you can see how it looks. It made everything look really nice. I decided to add the Pokémon hack roms that are on the no branded Micro-SD card too. Finally, I could play games like Clock Tower, Sweet Home and Donald in Maui Mallard. Of course, there are another dozens of titles I wanted to play but that would make this list way too long.
The Pokémon hack games got me thinking what if there are even more of them? I mean the ones I know about are from the Gameboy time and that is quite along time ago. I found many newer Pokémon hack games. Another world opened up for me. At this moment I am playing Pokémon Unbound on this device and I really enjoy it.
I really think this is a nice device and I still play games on it actually even when I have a lot of other devices laying around. I also found out that a lot of people sell good Micro-SD cards with a very good selection of games on it. That make things easier for people who do not want to set up their own card. Personally, I think it’s a nice solution.
Till the next blog everyone
