Welcome to the blog of Alexia Kuros
I was so disappointed in this handheld.
No matter how I look at the Miyoo A30 I feel so bad that I have to write this down. I tried my best to see if my feelings would change over time, but they just don’t. I feel so bad for this device to say that I just don’t like it. I was able to buy this and the Miyoo Mini from my other blog for a nice deal, but now I wonder if it was really a nice deal. Now it feels more like I bought a pig in a poke or cat in a bag like we say it.
Let’s start out that I did see some reviews and some people saying this was a nice device. Some of the other reviews I found are not so nice about the Miyoo A30. It made me wonder how this device would look in real life instead on pictures and I also have to admit the diversity of reviews made me wonder about this device. Also, I have to say on photos it looked quite okay.
My first impression was everything but good. Honestly from the moment I opened the case and saw the device for the first time I was really disappointed. I bought the red Famicom color and it just looks wrong. The plastic shell just looks like it can break easily.
I hoped that the Micro-SD card I ordered with the device could lift my spirits about the Miyoo A30. I know stock cards are no way perfect but this one was just as disappointed as the device itself. Yes, there are lots of games on it but also tons of Japanese and Chinese games. There was a moment of happiness when I saw Mario party on this device but when I hit the start button, I quickly found out this was the Japanese version. I can play the game in Japanese I mean most of the game contains mini games. It just didn’t make the device better.
You might think now why did I decide buying this device. I mean I can understand that question. Honestly, I didn’t think it would feel this cheap and that it was really that bad. I just thought it would be an okay device that you would play games on from time to time.
Hoping that I would fall in love with the Miyoo A30 I decided to see what other firmware is available. I first came across Mini UI and decided why not give it a try. It was just a matter of copy and paste. This means that I copied the firmware from the micro-SD card that came with it to a new scandisk card. After that I added Mini UI files and started up the device. This firmware is very stable and also very basic. I decided this was not a firmware for me. Second, I tried was Spruce OS another stable and decent firmware again I still missed something. It seems like there is no really fancy firmware like other devices have. This made me switch back to the original card that came with the device and leave it as it is.
Another thing but that is really personal the screen is just too small for me. I thought it would not make a huge difference for me but it does. I still feel very bad for this device and this is just my personal experience.
Till the next blog everyone
