Do I still think it was too expensive?

Since, I have my Odin 2 mini for a while now I like to share with you what I think of this powerful but expensive device. Do I use it a lot or is my Odin 2 mini collecting dust?

First of all, I am still very happy with this device even thou up till today I still think it was too expensive. I don’t have any dead pixels yet or other problems so I think that is a good thing. I do have to admit that I do not game as much on this device as I hoped I would do.

Maybe you heard that for this device and the normal Odin 2 device there is a dock. I thought this would be a good solution for when I was playing novel games on my Odin 2 mini and wanted to play a longer session, longer than say for example 2 hours. So, I decided to order a dock, and sadly I had a lot of lagging when playing games. So, I decided to send it back because I’m not good enough to do all some tweaking to maybe let the lagging disappear. On the other side I think that maybe it’s better so, I mean I bought this device because I wanted a great handheld device.

I also have been toying around again with DOS games. First I have been trying them out on retro arch, but I wanted to change controls with some games and I wasn’t able to do that. I’m sure it’s possible but my knowledge is not that far yet. So, I looked around internet and found this app called Magic DOSBox. Tried it and well I am happy to say that I can finally play Little big adventure again. Took me a long time to set all the controls myself but I have to say I am happy with my result. I am planning to add more games on this app later on.

Other games I have been playing are Novel games on my Suyu emulator. I am still amazed how well some games play. I know not every game plays but the ones I want to play maybe expect one or two are playing. Where I was happy with the Anbernic RGCube for those games I am even happier with the Odin 2 mini for the games. I mean nothing against my odd screen from the RGCube but seeing it on a wider screen is even better, not to mention about the mini led screen the device has.

So, did I have been able to play a lot of games yet? Honestly, no but I did enjoy the games that I have been playing so far. The Odin 2 mini is really a nice device to hold for me and I really enjoy it when I play a game, but I really thought that after 3 months I would have played a ton of games on this device.

Next up for me was playing PS1 games, this was something I really loved on the Anbernic RG40xxH. Turned out that it’s not bad at all at this device too it was very much enjoyable to play Crash bandicoot for a while. I also started Parasite Eve but haven’t been able to get far with it, which is a real shame but I hope that I will be able to complete it later on.

I think I have been busier with setting this device up and adding all the games I wanted to play, and added even more games on my backlog to play, then I had the device in my hands to play. I am not sure why this is, and it does kind of sadden me actually. I know that setting everything up is a part that I really enjoy but I have to admit I really thought that I enjoyed gaming on it as much as setting the device up. For now, that is not the case yet.

I really hope that in the future I will be able to play a lot more games on my too expensive device. That is how it stills feels for me. I also have to admit that if I would have waited a few months longer till the retoid pocket 5 came out I would have sure bought that device. It’s very simple for me personally as much as I love my device, I still think it’s not worth it’s price for me. This because I only use it for emulation and do not play android games on it.

Till the next blog everyone
